Subject: Adding a servo-based 4th Axis to KFLOP&KSTEP configuration

Greetings all.

I have an existing Dynomotion KFLOP/KSTEP setup working well with three steppers, and I am musing about adding a 4th axis based around a servo motor instead of a stepper.

During research, I did find the "configuring step and direction outputs" resource (https://dynomotion.com/Help/StepAndDirection/StepAndDir.htm), showing I can multiplex the first four S/D signals to other connectors to JP4 and JP6. I currently have JP5 working with linear encoder inputs, and other I/O partially filling those connectors already.

Am I correct in understanding the multiplexing is all or nothing for those four generators, and there is no mechanism for re-directing a single S/D I/O (in this case the unused stepper pins to the KSTEP 4th axis)?

Cheers.

Yes unfortunately that is correct all 4 Step/Dir signals are multiplexed from JP7 to JP4 and JP5. You will either need to break out 2 wires from the JP7 cable or free up  2 wires on JP5.

My thanks for the confirmation, Tom. Much appreciated.
